We welcome collaboration from researchers, educators, and hobbyists. Below are several ways to get involved with the evolvable hardware community.

Contributing Experiments

We welcome new experiments from external researchers. To contribute:

  1. Fork the latest BitstreamEvolution repository and set up the development environment
  2. Implement your experiment following the existing patterns in the codebase
  3. Document your setup, fitness function, and results
  4. Submit a pull request with your experiment code and a write-up for the website

Contributing to the Website

This documentation site is open source. To add or improve content:

  1. Fork the website repository
  2. The site is built with MkDocs Material — all content is Markdown
  3. Submit a pull request with your changes

Proposing Joint Research

For formal collaboration inquiries, reach out on Discord with:

  • Your research group and institution
  • Proposed research direction (see Future Research Directions for some open questions)
  • Desired timeline and resources
